Recent presentations, papers, projects.
- A paper I supervised, “It’s Much Easier for Neural Networks to Learn Game of Life Dynamics with the Right Activation Function: Polynomial Kolmogorov-Arnold Networks”, has recently (2026) been accepted to the 2026 Artificial Life conference. (The camera ready version of the paper will be finished and posted to the ArXiV soon).
- I was an organiser, presenter, and moderator for AEdu 2026, a three day virtual workshop at the intersection of teaching and artificial life.
- “Information Flows in Cellular Automata” a tutorial on using information theory to analyse cellular automata presented at the 2026 ALICE workshop (archived 2026-06). Slides available at https://iflowinca-f3799e.gitlab.io, code available at https://gitlab.com/asteraceous/iflowinca.
- CLASS (Cross Labs Alife Summer School). I designed the CLASS curriculum as an introduction to artificial life and complex systems for secondary school students. Slides, code.
- I presented work on self-organisation and selection-based homeostasis at Tokyo AI’s TAI AAI #12 session on evolutionary algorithms, 2026 September. Slides.
